If you have breast implants and suffer from chronic neck, back and shoulder pain, the likely culprit behind your pain might just be caused by the formation of adhesions!
Adhesions are fibrous bands of sticky scar tissue that form between tissues and organs causing them to stick together, often as a result of injury during surgery.
Over time the scar tissue builds up more and more until the implant and, more to the point, the muscles underneath have become trapped and held hostage, if you will, underneath a thick wall of scar tissue. As movement of the underlying muscles becomes more and more hindered, so too is range of motion hindered, giving way to the vicious cycle of increasingly poor posture and chronic neck, back and shoulder pain.
While massage most certainly helps alleviate the tightness and soreness of the peripheral muscles of the neck and shoulder blade, it is a mere Band-aid on the problem. The only way to truly get rid of the chronic pain is by breaking up those fibrous bands of scar tissue that have encased and trapped the deeper muscles and tissues underneath that have begun to pull down and immobilize the larger muscle on the outer side. That's where a really knowledgeable and experienced Physical Therapist comes in. Enter Ron Bracken, my PT and new best friend. In less than 30 mins, Ron identified the SOURCE of my chronic knots, inflammation, intermittent shoulder immobility, headaches and pain and was able to break through them, leaving me one happy camper!
How, you ask? Well, I'm not sure what the technical jargon would be... suffice it to say he just hammered through all that scar tissue. It hurt soo good! I could feel the adhesions pop and release as he crunched through them. The difference is NIGHT AND DAY! Not only have the deep, unrelenting knots and inflammation in my neck, back and shoulder gone away, but they have stayed away for over two weeks now! You have no idea what a MIRACLE that is for me!
While it may not be the easiest 30 minutes for someone who is on the modest side (since we're dealing with the muscles underneath the breast tissue) or for someone with a low tolerance for pain, I can tell you that I am CERTAIN it will still be a million times WORTH IT!
So, the moral of the story here, isn't "don't get breast implants". Rather, if you do decide you're willing to take the calculated risks for the chance to have bigger boobs, KNOW how to handle the negative side effects that may ensue. In short, know Ron Bracken - preferably BEFORE the adhesions have a chance to form, which means between two to four weeks post op If you already have breast implants and you experience chronic neck, back, and shoulder issues, I would recommend a visit to Ron or someone with similar knowledge and experience to see if adhesions might be the problem.
Because adhesions are caused by trauma, they can be the result of many injuries that are common among tennis players and golfers. So, you don't have to have had breast implants for that to be the case. My suggestion is, don't just accept the pain and suffer! Consult a knowledgeable and experienced Physical Therapist! You never know, your YEARS of pain could be vanquished in one 30 minute session, just like mine! And ohhhh, what a relief it is!

Yesterday on an episode of THE UNEXPLAINED FILES, they talked about the phenomena of organ transplant recipients taking on the personality traits of their organ donors. Professor of Neurology, Dr. Gary Schwartz, coauthored a paper that analyzes 10 cases in which transplant recipients claim they acquired personality traits from their donors.
One such case involved two little girls. An eight year old girl received a heart transplant. After the surgery, she began having recurring nightmares of a little girl being murdered. It turned out that the heart she received was of a little girl who’d been murdered. The dreams were so vivid she was able to describe the perpetrator and murder scene in perfect detail and lead police to the killer of her organ donor.
Another case involved a woman who also received a heart transplant. The donor was a man who’d been killed during a bar fight. Oddly, after the surgery, the recipient, though feeling better physically than she could ever remember, could not seem to shake an overwhelming sense of anger. In addition, even though she’d never driven a stick shift in her life, she found herself constantly trying to shift gears while driving her car. Another woman, who had never had any interest in carpentry before her liver transplant, found herself wandering the isles of hardware stores buying tools and taking on multiple home improvement projects that she performed flawlessly despite never receiving any kind of training. She also felt an overwhelming urge to become involved in her community and found herself in situations where she could fight for the underdog. Come to find out years later, the man from whom she received her liver was US Marshall and as well as an avid carpenter. Another man, who, aside from his heart issues led a seemingly, happy life, committed suicide very shortly after his transplant, in exactly the same way the donor had committed suicide.
So, is the brain the only intelligent organ in the body? Until now, it was believed by the scientific community that without neurons, it would be impossible for organs to retain any “memory” or communicate information, such as memories to the brain. But, recent research has shown interesting new data on the subject. Organs may not have neurons, but a newly discovered neuropeptide might be the missing piece of the puzzle which explains the ability to for the body to communicate organ to brain.
Cultures and religions throughout history have touted the importance of the soul. Since biblical times, the heart has been a symbol of the whole human person, and has always been linked to one’s soul. Is science finally catching up and able to prove what religion has said about the heart all along?
Dr. Rollin McCraty of The Institute of HeartMath in California, says “Yes”. He conducted a study which measured heart and brain activity. The results were surprising. They found that the HEART was the first to respond, and then the heart sent a measurably different signal to the brain, then the body responded. In addition to being the first to respond to stimuli, the heart also showed response in advance of stimuli, which indicated a level of “intuition” or precognitive ability, as if connected to another realm of understanding such as religion would equate to the soul.
So, is the “soul” of a person connected to the physical organ of the heart? Can an organ transplant recipient receive the memories of their donor? Has “religion” been right about the heart/soul connection all along? I know what I believe... I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

What's not to love about thick, black, long, luscious eyelashes???
Absolutely nothing! Beautiful eyelashes add mega sex appeal and youth! The billion dollar industry has capitalized on our desire for beautiful, lush lashes and offered us everything from lash extensions to fake eyelashes, to a dizzying array of mascara formulations! As an avid lover-of-lash-enhancers, and one whose tried them all, I can tell you without a doubt, there's one product that stands head and shoulders above the rest. What is it you ask? Why, LATISSE, of course! LATISSE, made by Allergan, actually helps your own body grow thicker, fuller, longer lashes. No glues. No fake eyelashes to worry about blinking off at the most inopportune moment (if you've ever worn them, you've been there). It's just you, only, better!
BUT, there is a downside to LATISSE. First, is the price. It's not cheap! LATISSE comes in two sizes, 3 mL, and 5 mL. with prices ranging anywhere from $120-$200 depending on where you buy it. Secondly, and my biggest complaint, is the packaging. You'd think a product that costs so much, and is made by the genius's who created the miracles of BOTOX and JUVEDERM, could engineer more user-friendly packaging! I mean there are hundreds of imitators out there whose products cost a fraction of what LATISSE costs, and yet their's comes in easy user-friendly packaging! Talk about being outdone by the underdogs! SMH! Currently, LATISSE comes in a small squeeze bottle, similar to an eye dropper- which isn't surprising since it's lash building brilliance was discovered by doctors of Lumigan patients. (Lumigan is a drug which is prescribed to ophthalmic patients who suffer from conditions that cause pressure issues in the eye, like glaucoma and macular degeneration.) In addition to the dropper bottle, they include a giant wad of pre-packaged "one use" brushes that are made from the lowest quality plastic possibly known to man! I personally don't know a soul who uses them! Like, come on already, Allergan! You are BETTER than this!
I speak from personal experience when I tell you how the improper use of LATISSE, such as ditching the brush step and opting for the faster, easier method of dripping it straight onto your eyelashes, can cause SEVERE ITCHING and redness! I LOATHE everything about those horrible little brushes! I hate fumbling to get them open! I hate how scratchy they are, not to mention how they seem to all but swallow the LATISSE! So, I chunked mine in the trash and went straight for the "drip" method! Not surprisingly, soon after came the inevitable itching and redness... ahhh! FRUSTRATION!!! I slogged through that nightly routine for a while... WASTING my LATISSE as it dripped everywhere except where I wanted it, watching good money go down the drain, and suffering with the red itchy eyes, not to mention the raccoon effect from smearing my mascara and eyeliner all day long from the rubbing and scratching! I wanted thick beautiful lashes, but, I didn't want to go through the nightly hassle of that horrible routine and the daily hassle of the rubbing and itching. For me, it was a deal breaker! Great product + horrible packaging = BAD PRODUCT! (Did you hear that, ALLERGAN???)
My solution: Drip, Dip, Sweep!
How To Get The Most From Your LATISSE!
Before you get started, pic up a cheap contact lens case from your local drug store, and grab an eyeliner brush from your makeup bag- the kind with actual brush fibers -not the felt tipped "pen" kind. (see pic above)
1. Drip a drop or two of LATISSE into the lens holder
2. Dip the eyeliner brush into the solution, tap off the excess
3. Sweep along lash lines of upper eyelashes
4. Seal the left over solution in the lens case and save for next application!
VOILA! Problem SOLVED!
These easy steps make applying LATISSE, quick, easy, hassle free and best of all it saves you money because the lens case preserves the left over solution, saving it for the next application! **NOTE: DO NOT STORE CONTACTS IN SAME CASE you use to store your LATISSE! LATISSE is to be applied to LASH LINES ONLY! Contact wearers should wait 15 minutes after applying LATISSE before inserting contacts lenses.
How Often Should I Use LATISSE?
Clients ask me this all the time! Here's what I tell them. When you first start using LATISSE use it every night until you achieve the length and fullness you desire. The amount of time it will take to achieve the growth you want will vary from person to person. It generally takes people with thinner hair such as blondes, less time than it will take someone with naturally thick hair such as brunettes. I personally have very thick hair, so, I start to see results within about 2 weeks. But, for many it takes up to 2 or three months of continued use to reach to that point. Commitment it key!
My Eyes Still Get Red and Itchy - Is LATISSE Not For Me?
Not all all! Don't worry, mine did too until I learned this awesome little trick: ANTiHISTIMINE DROPS! Pick up a bottle of allergy eye drops from your local drug store and use as needed.. I like to use mine immediately after applying LATISSE. No more forsaking INCREDIBLE lashes due to red itchy eyes!
How can I Maintain My Results For LESS MONEY!?
Once you have achieved the results you desire, you can back off usage to two or three nights per week. This will keep your lashes thick, full, long and SEXY!
Lash It Up!
I still think it's an absolute TRAGEDY that Allergan refuses to upgrade to a more user friendly packaging, but, until then, these tips should help you put an end to all that frustration! So, go on! LASH IT UP! It's time to BRING SEXY BACK!
(note: LATISSE is a drug and therefore must be prescribed to you by a medical practitioner. )

Hives, rash, uncontrollable itching and even asthma-like wheezing... those were a few of the negative side-effects of the toxic build up of SLS in my body! It happened in 2010 right after we moved to a home in beautiful horse country. At first, I thought it was the well water. But, after traveling and showering with non-well water, I realized something else was the culprit. I became a super-sleuth and uncovered a little known fact about Sodium Laurel Sulfate, an ingredient that pervades many household and cosmetic products that we use, sometimes multiple times a day!
According to Osha MSDS, SLS is listed as:
WHAT???!!! Say it ain't so, Joe!
So, what exactly is Sodium Laurel Sulfate? SLS is an industrial grade "degreaser". SLS adds that frothy LATHER to cleaning products, such as shower gels, hand soaps, dish detergents, shampoo, and even toothpaste, (as if toothpaste isn't toxic enough already!). If we only used a couple of products once or twice a day, it probably wouldn't be a problem. But, the average person uses NINE products, some, MULTIPLE times a day- herein lies the problem! Continued exposure to SLS causes a cumulative build up in the system - the liver, until toxicity occurs. Take it from me, that isn't something you EVER want to experience!
So, WHY is such a harmful ingredient in nearly every household product we use? Bottom line, it's SUPER CHEAP! Never mind that it causes hives, rashes, asthma-like symptoms and, hair loss, among other horrific things! "Cheap" = bigger profit margins. 'nuff said?
Ridding my home of products that contained SLS wasn't easy six years ago, at least in the boon docks where I lived, anyway. So, I resuscitated my inner alchemist and went to work!
For years, now, I've made my own laundry detergent, body wash, and tooth paste, among other things! (One day very soon, we'll be offering a whole line of SLS FREE products and recipes here! ) I found Sulfate Free Shampoos rather easily, so, I've continued to use store bought formulas, although, I did create a Pet Shampoo for my dogs that I LOVE.
Over the past six years I've had many clients who've complained about similar symptoms, which led me to the realization that this is a much more widespread problem than I originally thought. Many people are experiencing the side effects that lead up to toxicity, but, aren't sure what is causing them, so, I'm going to include a list of things I personally encountered for your quick reference.
I believe that it's not a matter of IF, but, only a matter of WHEN one's system will become toxic- at least for anyone still using regular store bought household products. Therefore, my tip to you is RID YOUR HOME of these harmful products RIGHT AWAY!
BUYER BEWARE! Many products that are labeled "Natural" and "Organic" contain SLS! They are a-lyin' to YOU! It may be true that some of the ingredients are natural or organic, but, that doesn't mean that they ALL are! READ THE LABELS! Look for "SULFATE FREE" or "SLS FREE" products. SLS hjas many close cousins you should also avoid. I will list them below.
Last but not least... SURPRISNGLY, SLS is also used a filler material in many medications! I was SHOCKED to find out after a YEAR of taking generic Claritan D that it contains SLS! In fact the as the second ingredient listed on the box, the Walgreen's brand has the highest concentration of SLS of any medication I've found, to date.! Because my body had become so toxic, I also developed severe sensitivities and allergies to other kinds of sulfates as well. Sulfates, sulfites, sulfonimides, are common preservatives that are used (especially) in foods, and beverages that contain any kind of fruits. My life has been SLS Free for nearly 5 1/2 years, and these still have a severe affect on me, pretty much instantly. Yet, one more reason to give sulfates the BOOT, asap!
