What is microneedling?

How does microneedling work?
Microneedling triggers a multistep process within your skin that transforms its appearance and texture. It works by first pricking your skin, creating micro-injuries. (Don’t worry, this procedure is designed with your comfort in mind. Most patients report they don’t feel anything except the SkinPen’s vibration.) The pinpricks the microneedling treatment creates are so small you most likely won’t even be able to see them.
Your body, however, does detect these injuries and wants to heal them. To do that, it directs your immune system to them, cleaning them out and increasing blood flow in the area. Then, your body continues the healing process by creating a new network of collagen, elastin, and healthy skin tissue. Elastin and collagen are the proteins in your skin that keep it plump, smooth, and elastic.
As the micro-injuries continue to heal, that new collagen and elastin smooth your skin as the resulting newly generated tissue clears and brightens it.
What is the SkinPen?
